LP Planning were instructed to assist a local couple nearing retirement in realising their dream of embarking on a self-build project to create a purpose-built, energy efficient home. Having struggled to find a suitable plot, despite being on the local self-build register, they explored, with LP Planning’s help, the potential of building within their existing garden.
Following an initial site visit and appraisal, LP Planning prepared and submitted an outline planning application for the self-build dwelling, addressing key considerations including access, highways, siting, height, and ecology. The application highlighted both the lack of self-build plots locally and the sustainable, low carbon credentials of the proposed development.
During the determination process, LP Planning was invited to attend and speak at the Development Control Committee meeting, after which outline planning permission was successfully obtained on behalf of the clients.
